Taught by Ruth
For the months of July and August Ruth will be teaching Quilted Sweatshirt Jacket in our classroom. Cost is $30.00 for an all day class. A sweatshirt and 10 fat quarters is all it takes. 5 students per class.
There are various dates available, call the shop to reserve a spot today!
These are the following classes offered for those of you who have completed Beginning Quilting or who have experience using basic sewing and quilting skills.
Each class shows techniques that can be used to make table runners, wall hangings, bed sized quilts or even small projects like tote bags, table mats, etc. If you have a specific project in mind, please indicate this at the beginning of the class so we can tailor the class to fit you.
The cost for the classes will be $20.00 for each class if there is only 1 person in the class, and $15.00 for each person per class if there are 2 or more for that class. So bring a friend!
Borders
There are many ways to "frame" your quilt project. This class is about the two most common plus one very uncommon but eye catching border.
Paper piece
This class is how to make stars and other designs with perfect points very very simply. All straight line sewing and fun.
Applique
Of the many ways to machine applique, we will learn at least three of the most used. These techniques can be used to put appliques on nearly anything that you can sew as well as quilts--clothes, tablecloths, curtains, etc.
Color
Learn to choose fabrics for your quilts that make them "pop" of make them look "cozy". Get the results you want by using Color Theory to choose fabrics.
Log Cabin
This is a popular pattern from pioneer days and oh, so easy the modern way. Not only can this result in the standard "logs" design, but fancier things like flowers and hearts too.
Lone Star
This is also a pattern from the early days of out country and used to be quite an advanced and difficult one to do. Not anymore. Our easy Lone Star uses a foundation pattern with no diamonds to cut, no Y seams to sew. This is a spectacular design that beginners can do! A foundation pattern purchase is necessary.
Free Motion Quilting
So you want to quilt your bed size quilt but don't like turning
it every which way under the arm of the machine or you'd like to do some designs you create--this is for you. it does take some practice to do, but it is fun, creative, and allows you much freedom of expression and application. A darning foot or equivalent for your machine is required.
Individual Projects
You bought a pattern on impulse but now don;t know how to get started. Or you'd really like a particular table runner that would fit a non standard table size. or your bedroom is calling out for something really splashy on the wall or bed. or you heard of a new technique to try. Bring your ideas in. It may mean on one session to get your questions answered and put you on the right track, or a series of classes to see you through to the end. You decide. We will see what we can do to help.
